Michael Heisley Enjoys Provocative Kids

One day Michael Heisley won't be the owner of the Grizzlies. I hope that when that day comes, the Grizzlies remain in Memphis and aren't so run into the ground that no one with enough talent is willing to build the franchise back up.

God, he blew it.

In the meantime, we are resigned to moments like Monday's Chris Vernon Show, when Heisley joined Vernon for a half hour discussion about Xavier Henry's contract negotiations, how to run an NBA franchise, and whether the Grizzlies' organization was filled with yes men.

If you want to know exactly what Heisley said, go to Vernon's blog and listen. You can also download it at Itunes under 'chrisvernonshow'. (It's also worth listening to Vernon's interview last Thursday with Coach Lionel Hollins. In the interview, Hollins sounds just like Heisley, on Opposite Day.)

My key takeways from the interview are below. Some of the statements are pure speculation on my part. (I did not check the facts!) If you find these bullets unbelievable, then listen to the entire interview, linked above, and decide for yourself:
  • Chris Wallace is a yes man.
  • Lionel Hollins is not a yes man.
  • Hakim Warrick is not a yes man.
  • Arn Tellum is not a yes man.
  • Tony Barone is a yes man.
  • Jerry West was not a yes man.
  • Jerry West encouraged Heisley to draft Hasheem Thabeet.
  • Xavier Henry did not attend Summer Camp.
  • Heisley has not read the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • Heisley pays other people to read the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • Heisley had more influence on the Allen Iverson signing that other personnel moves.
  • Heisley makes a lot of messes in his life.
  • Heisley doesn't care how the other NBA owners conduct their business.
  • Heisley isn't trying to please the press.
  • Heisley thinks Chris Vernon is provocative.
  • Heisley thinks Chris Vernon is a kid.
  • Heisley enjoys Chris Vernon.
  • Heisley enjoys provocative kids.

He is right, he is the boss, he can do everything he want with his rookie contracts.

Damn, hope Xavier and Greivis never sign with the Grizzlies, and they were traded to another franchise... for some and good veteran player.

Some rookies do nothing on their first five years in the league, just to sign a 120% contract, they should worth it before sign it...

you know, they should worth it before sign it.

Thank you for the timely blog post I've been waiting months for. I'd say you're officially back in the top 50 Grizzlies blogs of all time.

Well, in my bad english, you know what I mean, Heisley want to do something different, I hope the other franchises will do something similar in the future... 120% for nothing, wtf does it mean??? can they play out there and help this team to win some games?

J-Bo, don't let Curt discourage you. He does not respect diversity.

But please don't let Heisley fool you. The chance of one of the rookies helping the Grizzlies is much better than the chance Heisley will make a good trade.

Curt, everything I do, I do it for you.

David: Please invest in Davidlovesthegrizzlies.com John's internet filter at work will not allow him to read anything on blogspot. Can you do that for me?

J-Bo: I assumed you were one of David's friends/lovers. I apologize for making fun of your English. On the other hand, you are a crazy man for siding with Heisley on this. He has to pay to play nice with the agents if we ever expect to sign anybody more worthwhile than Acie Law.

Curt: Please post the same thing multiple times so I can catch the nuances of your posts.

J-Bo: I agree with David there is no way we make a worth while trade for our rookies

Heisley: Please makes sure and read this article it has the potential to save you some more money (make sure you scroll down past all of the Rubio clips, by the way he looks much worse than Thabeet, I swear). I am sorry your chance to "flip" the grizzlies for a profit fell through when Christian Laettner (sp?) could not put together enough cash.

I regret making my previous comment, seeing as how I cannot correctly count months.

I am more than disappointed. It's probably because of the lack of posting....
