React: Grizzlies Select Conley

As predicted at Sportprojections.com, the Grizzlies selected Conley with the fourth pick. I'm happy about this pick. Conley seems like the best player available and he addresses a major need for the Grizzlies.

I like that he's young - only a freshman, and has the potential to develop into a star.

I hope that this doesn't stifle the development of Kyle Lowry, and I hope they're able to coexist.

Seems like a solid move from our young management.

What do you think? Comment below...

Im pretty excited about Conley and I think he will be great. However, I'd like to know your thoughts of where we go from here. Do you think we need to choose a team identity between older/ready to play and younger/will be good in a few years? Or can we be a good team with both the guys that can play, i.e. miller and gasol, and the guys that will one day (hopefully) be great, i.e. gay and conley.

I'll be posting about where to go from here in the next weeks. My initial thoughts are that this is a good start.

I think we should keep Gay, Gasol, Lowry, and Kinsey - I'm happy to trade anyone else for good value.

I love it.

Would've jumped off a bridge if Stern had called Noah's name.

And although I love Gasol, we should probably trade him now while his value is extremely high.

couldn't be happier with the Conley pick...

i agree with "the butler" (wow, never thought i'd blog those words) in that we should explore trading pau. his value is extremely high (possibly higher than his actual worth). the more change for the grizz the more excitement it brings to the team (assuming the change is a good one), and that's exactly what this city needs right now...EXCITEMENT!

I know I'm excited about Conley!

the butler is the smartest man ever. trade gasol while you still get something in return.... before the rest of the league sees what we have seen for a couple of years now. i'll trade gasol for a 1991 Donruss Ken Griffey Jr.

Dave,
I like the Conley pick, but lets move on shall we? What are we doing in free agency, it looks as if Darko is available as well as Varejo(sp?). Varejo is basically Joakim Noah with the hair but without the pretty face. Darko is still only 21 and seems to be improving. I also like the irony of getting the player who was selected with our No. 2 pick in the last fateful draft before 2007. I think we have the cap space to make a run at either. I know Varejo is restricted, but he seems like someone who could help out our D. Thoughts?
