Grizz hire Iavaroni

The Commercial Appeal is reporting.

I think this is a good move for the Grizzlies. If Iavaroni doesn't pan out, it won't be Heisley's fault. I like that Heisley is taking a chance on someone who has potential to have a big impact.

Let's hope this is the start of more to come...

Its about time and now that Kobe's on the market maybe adding a superstar part 5 isn't so off base. not that he would ever come to Memphis.

Unfortunately, it looks like Bryant is pulling back a little from his initial stance...

Kobe's not leaving LA.....and even if he was, Memphis' market is not big enough for him. We don't need him anyway. The Grizzle have enough scoring options. They've proven that they can score points, they just need some transition defense and rebounding. I think Iavaroni will help tremendously in that area.

Hi Mtwon, I hope you're right that Iavaroni will help on defense and rebounding.

I disagree that Memphis doesn't need a player like Kobe (though I agree he's unlikely to want to come to Memphis). The Grizzlies can score, but they need a play who can create offense and lead the team like Kobe. Gasol does some of that, but not enough...

I read the other day we are going to hire mark jackson as GM. What do you think of this? Id rather see us go after a guy that has had some front office experience rather than former player with no experience on the other side of the desk.
Even though he might be an anomaly, looking at the success Bryan Colangelo has had compared to that of Isaiah, Chris Mullin, et al. convinces me to root for a guy with some front office years under his belt. I don't know who is out there, but surely someone is.

I admit Jackson's TV personality doesn't make him an appealing personality, and I like the idea of Kiki. That said, I'm open to the idea of trying someone new, so I don't think Jackson is a bad idea.
